Friday evening

.. and I had a bad afternoon at work. Some shit just happened about work. So, I'm going to write, write, write and write.

Until AJ the boss's emailed me back, that is.

I've been working a lot the past week. Started tidying up my work station a bit. That's probably a 209th attempt at that. And I went down the pub last night.

The first night out this week, I tell you.

"Just another evening in the pub" turned into something different. Met a few friends there. The French showed me something very interesting.

She just flew Orient Thai down South, and found a very interesting article published in the airline's magazine. It was written by our friend - Cameron.

To all of you who know Cameron personally.... yes, that same Cameron.

It was a pleasant surprise, really. It's always been his dream. You know, like.. TV shows.. writing.. It's really nice to see that he's getting started there.

After that, the real drinking session started. A friend's ex boyfriend was in the house, and he was in a good mood. Th
en, he started buying Tequila shots. At one point, there were seven shots in front of three of us. The goddamn Lee Shamrock wouldn't drink it, so I had to take his as well.

I was just being nice and was only helping a friend out.

Not that I'm an alkie.

Before my memory got blurry, I remember I found out the friend's ex would be moving to New York in four months.

This is the same guy who bought me seven whiskeys when he noticed I was having a cold.

And I drank them all since no one would help me with that stuff.

Ahh.. those days..

Oh dear... AJ hasn't replied to my email yet. This can't be good.

:-(

Ahhh

Working in the night is great. No phone calls every five minutes. No one bugging me with a random chit-chat. No bad traffic outside. No heat outside.

Now, I'm knackered and hungry... again.

Time to eat.

Oh God... I'm so not going to lose any weight.

And I'm going to the beach next month!!!

Bye bye Ecuador

And England waltzed away into Quater-Finals.

Well, not exactly waltzed, but you got my point.

Picture from BBC

I went down the pub to watch the game. The place was pretty busy. Lots of England supporters. The crowd in there wasn't as mad as the bar I went to see the match against Trinidad & Tobago though.

But still good fun. Lots of familiar faces. Although I didn't give a hoot much about anything or anyone when the game was on.

Andrew was somewhere in the pub too. The maniac who annoyed the shite out of him the other night also turned up. I knew she had been ringing him before he came to the pub. Even though she is flying out to see her fiance in a couple of weeks. But.. oh well, never mind.

I will probably just be there when he wants to complain he can't get her off his back.

Probably not.

Oh, Rose got her own maniac as well.

As freaky. :D

Sick

Again.

Bleedin' allergy is getting a lot worse these days. I thought I would get to sleep in a bit this morning, but no. The assistant and AJ worked today. And the internet connection happened to be fooked. The assistant was not going to make any decision herself. So, she had to ring me every half hour, either to update the situation or to ask me what to do next.

And I was lying in bed feeling totally sick wanting to get some more sleep.

It went on for hours. And stopped once I approved to buy a new router.

Thank Buddha.

I got to sleep after 3 PM. And woke up a few hours later, since I had planned to go to the pub to meet Rose and Andrew. But Andrew had to bail on me though since he was not feeling very well himself. Welcome to the club, gramps.

Oh, Kay (looks funny there!), Rose and Kiki

Anyway, I didn't drink tonight. Not even now that I'm home. I save myself for tomorra!!!

Friday, June 23, 2006

Thank Lord..

It's Friday, again!

Today has been less than entertaining here. AJ, the boss, is leaving the country for a while. He'll be travelling a lot until probably end of this year. So, he's been under a lot of pressure to get shite done around here. And he's not really pleasant to be deal with when under the pressure. Sometimes, I really wish I could strangle him.

Well, feel free to tell him that. He knows it anyway. :D

Oh well, anyway, tough shite. Welcome to the grownup world.

I actually worked late again last night. I'm getting paranoid myself if I've got my work for the next 3 weeks under control. Bosses will all be away. And I'll be in charge here. And "bosses away" means "no one to sign another cheque until mid of July".

Hmm.. I should be okay.

Anyway, so I worked late and didn't quite know where to have dinner yet. And decided to ask Andrew. He happened to be in the same area too. Nice!!! So, we met up for dinner in a bar nearby.

We got to watch some bits of Ghana vs USA game. There were quite a few Yanks around us. And another guy from Ghana. Imagine how happy the Ghana guy felt when he was waltzing out of the bar past all those Yanks. Bless him, really. :D

When I was about to finish my dinner, there was a mad Thai girl joining us. She and Andrew are in the same French class. She didn't take long - I didn't even finish my small Heineken yet - when she annoyed the shite out of Andrew. So, the poor chap bailed out immediately.

I still don't know why he didn't stop her from joining us last night while he's not really happy with being around her. Bloody weirdo needs to learn how to tell people to fook off.

I may be able to teach him.

Anyway, Germany vs Sweden tomorra. We'll go down the pub to watch the game. And Rose too!

Apology

Referring to the, now gone, entry I posted last night - Wednesday Night Live. Since it's a personal conversation between Mark (not the English one) and me, and I posted mostly to wind him up. And to amuse me too, actually. So, anyway, now it has become clear that... ahh... never mind. Let's just get it all done.

I apologise for posting our conversation.

Now, we both can just fuck off and live our lives peacefully.

One bleedin' point

What a game.

I decided to stay up to watch the game. It was well worth it. England finally showed us they did know how to play football. Gotta say that England with Rooney played a lot better. Too bad, the poor lad, Owen, hurt his knee. Hope he didn't injure it too badly.

Sweden did a damn good job too. But the second goal.. damn, shouldn't have lost that one.

I watched the game in my apartment - since it was 2 AM and all the bars closed at 1 AM here. My mate Ian had some stuff to do so he couldn't watch the match. Andrew and Rose were watching the game (in their own places!) too. So, I had three people to text back and forth throughout the game.

Well, if there was another game playing that late, I would definitely get Andrew and Rose to watch the game with me - in the same place! It's a bit difficult to text to three people and watch the game in the same time.

So, anyway, Second round on Sunday.

That'll be fun.

Sweden vs England

Kicks off in two and a half hours.

Give me another three points, Ingurland!

Oh...

I forgot.

Just had a quick chat with Mark (the English, not Mark the Tw.. oh, never mind) this evening. We were seeing each other for a while some time ago. But never lived in the same city. Now, we don't even live in the same country. But he will be transferred back in Thailand later this year.

He will be here for a meeting in five weeks' time or so. And we will be trying that wine bar in the sky at the Hilton.

We are going to get all dolled up for the night.

Ahhh.. back to the real deal, e.g. English.

:-D

Monday... again

Today was quite a day.

I had all the house to myself yesterday. Dad was in Lampang province. My sister was out shopping or whatever. Mum was out too. So, I stayed home with the dog. That was sooooooo peaceful.

I got up this morning not feeling very well. My allergy has been screwing me up real good. So, I decided to take the morning off work. Once I made it to the office, there was shite waiting for me here.

A girl here (different organisations, we just share the office) wanted to resign, and she wouldn't turn up until 2 PM. Of course, she wasn't here at 2 PM. We couldn't reach her either. Some girls in my company could help to run that organisation for a bit. We've always done that in the past. But now............. this girl has got a fookin' password on the computer.

So, now, when some people rang and asked if the organisation got their emails, the answer was "I don't know." How beautiful was that?

When she finally turned up, 2 hours later than she'd informed us, my boss had a really long and serious convo with her. She had worked with crooks in the past and so she has been very careful with all details - to protect herself. It's not really like that here. I mean, there are only a few people working here. I'm in charge of my company's money. Well, some of it. But even that - it's still more than that organisation's. She's been wayyyy too into the details. That only stressed her out to the max. And as a result, it stressed my boss out too.

She already pissed a company off by sticking to every single letter in the contract. No flexibility whatsoever. They all had a meeting the other day. I was brought in as well since I was more senior than my assistant. At the end of the meeting, problems solved, they continue working with the organisation. And the lady from that company said she would deal with me from now on.

Something just shouldn't be a problem at all. If executives have authorised something, whether you're against it or not, just do it. They obviously have reasons to allow it. You're afraid it would come back and bite you in the arse later? Attach email with the documents, or get an executive's signature to confirm the deal.

Wallah! Everyone is happy.

Back to today, so my boss had a convo with her. Not a very pleasant convo. But in the end, all was sorted out.. I guess. She's still working here.. I guess. No one got killed. She just needs to be flexible. The organisation is a non-profit one. No one in the board gets paid. The only one person in the organisation that gets paid is her. People volunteer to run this organisation. They really can't afford to piss the companies they deal with off.

The rest of us in the office don't have the problems she has. I mean, I've been working here for one and a half years already. They must be doing things right around here.

Oh...

Maybe it's us who are weirdos.

Tis nice

Back at my parents' again. Dad is now out to Muang Thong Thani. Hope he comes back with some food! I'm getting hungry again.

I went down the pub last night (no idea why I feel the need to say that. It's hardly news anyway). Spoke to the French, the Canadian and Andrew about the Pattaya night out next month. Hope they can make it. I'll have to chase the Gramps, Andrew. Well, I mean, what else would he be doing in Bangkok anyway? He tends to miss having me around on weekends too. And I'm always at the parents'. Now that I'm gonna go down to Pattaya for a night or two...

Well, let's make it two. From my experiences, after a massive drinking session in Pattaya, it's very unlikely I would get out of bed before 3 PM the next day. Terrible lot to hang out with!

Anyway, we have to check if Lee Shamrock is playing before we go down the pub now. Because of the World Cup, his schedule is unpredictable. Like last night. I had actually spoken to Lee on Thursday night asking if he would be working on Friday. He said he would play from 8 PM till 11 PM (instead of the usual 9 PM till midnight).

9.30 PM, Rose and I were in the pub and where the hell was Lee??? People were watching the game. So, I rang and he said the manager changed the plan and he was going to play after that game and see how it went from there.

While he was playing, the next game (Holland vs Ivory Coast) was about to start. The Dutch were singing national anthem and Rose gave me a nudge. And we put our hands over our hearts. That's my hand over my heart, and her hand over her heart, you naughty you. That gave the Paddy Irishman next to us a good giggle.

Kicked off and Lee asked his audience how many were there to watch the game. Only a few, baby. And I actually asked him back "What game?" The same Paddy Irishman raised his eyebrow at me. :-D

The game wasn't too bad. Actually, better than both England's games. I was really thinking if it were Ivory Coast against England, instead of T & T. Maybe England would have lost!!

2-1, Holland won. Not bad, man. Not bad.

After the game, I invited Lee to the Pattaya piss up next month. He might be working in Koh Tao that weekend. So, we'll see.

Ingurland Ingurland

So I met Andrew and his date in the bar last night. It was pretty busy in there. We were in the back of the bar where all the English gathered. Oh dear, you should have seen it when they were singing their national anthem. Quite touching.

A bit funny too. But still quite touching.

Anyway, that was yet another disappointment. The last 20 minutes, the crowd started to air their disappointments out loud. Very out loud.

When we saw Wayne Rooney was warming up, we all cheered and screamed "Rooneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!"

And he never got to play yet.

Rooney was warming up again years later, we all cheered and screamed "Rooneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!" again.

And there he was!!!

Too many shots with no goal. I asked Andrew if they knew where the bloody goal was, since they seemed to be missing it all the time. He said "They have been told."

There was hope then.

83', there came the first goal.

HALLELUJAH!!!!

And the second!!!!

They took their time, didn't they?

But 3 points mean 3 points.

Pa da da da dum...

Come on, England!!

England vs Trinidad and Tobago tonight. Kicks off at 11pm Thailand time. I'm going to wear the Union Jack (again, note to self: find a St George one) to watch the game with Andrew in a bar close to my office. I'll have to go back to the apartment to get changed first, I ain't wearing it to work.

And he left his England shirt at his place too.

Very well planned indeed.

My friend from Liverpool predicts 4-0.

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

All right!

Back in town now. Woohoo!!

Good gawd, I'm really knackered today. Four days off work and I had 45 emails to catch up on this morning. Not as many as I had expected though. There was a bad news amongst those 45 emails. One of our clients have changed their mind and will not hire this spa therapist just yet.

And all bloody documents have been sent over. And she risked her current job by getting a reference letter from that place. I mean.... HUH?!?!?

Oh well... That's what I'm being paid to do.

Anyway, this's good news. Ian is coming back next month. So, we're planning a get-together in Pattaya. Yippeee!!!!!

I seriously need to lose some bit of the belly.

Sunday, June 11, 2006

Well...

That's quite a bit of a disappointment.

I decided to go to the mick pub to watch England's first game with my fellow Thai people - with my Union Jack top on (never found a St George top here, unless it's a football t-shirt). The pub was very busy. Andrew reported from a Pommie pub that it was way too effin' busy there.

The game was fucking disappointing.

But a win is a win, I guess.

Three points for England.

Saturday, June 10, 2006

It has already started..

The World Cup, I mean.

Back to Thursday first.

I went down the pub after work (as usual) and met a few friends there. The Canadian had her ex visitting for a few days. She looked amazing (as usual). She's doing really well with everything in her life. That's so cool.

Also met the French (from my bubble bath joke). This girl is really naughty when she is pissed. My pint which was 2/3 full was sitting on the table unattended for one second. And she got my attention, looked me in the eye while dropping a shot of Tequila in it!!!

Jasus, I had to drink all that shite in one go.

Well, two actually, because the French made me giggle and I didn't want to choke on the beer + Tequila.

That's when it all began.

I went to work on Friday with a hangover. It was a public holiday so boss wasn't very fussy about anything. I greeted him as usual (albeit 40 minutes later than the usual time).

"Good morning, Khun AJ."

"Good morning, Khun Kay. How is the hangover???"

Oi!!!

Ok, now World Cup. England's first game tonight at 8PM. Andrew is going to an English pub. Rose is going to an Irish pub.

Well, I will have my Union Jack top on. So, maybe I shouldn't go to the mick pub!

Long Live The King

http://etna.mcot.net/query.php?nid=22453

Thais gather to honour HM the King's 60th year on the throne

BANGKOK, June 9 (TNA) - Hundreds of thousands of Thais gathered at the Royal Plaza in the heart of Bangkok to see His Majesty the King make a rare public appearance to mark HM the King's 60th anniversary on the throne.

Thais from around the kingdom, united in showing their colour, yellow polo and tee shirts -- yellow being the King's birth colour for Monday, the day of his birth -- packed the Royal Plaza in considerable heat in the hope of catching a glimpse of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and show their loyalty and gratitude for the monarch's faithful conduct of royal duties and his dedication to the people.

King Bhumibol is the ninth king of the Chakri Dynasty and ascended to the throne exactly 60 years ago today, on June 9, 1946. Their Majesties the King and Queen paid homage the past kings of the Chakri dynasty and received blessings from senior Buddhist monks before granting an audience to representatives of the Royal Family, privy councillors and nobility.

His Majesty the King appeared on the balcony of the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, granting an audience to the general public. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn represented the Royal Family in wishing His Majesty well.

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra represented the Cabinet, civil servants, police and military officers and the Thai people in paying homage to His Majesty. Presidents of Parliament and the Supreme Court also read statements honouring the King.

Thailand has declared a five-day public holiday for the events from Friday until Tuesday. Monarchs and royal guests from 25 countries -- including Japan's Emperor Akihito, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands -- were among those expected to attend the events. Irish Judge

Two lawyers standing before an Irish judge got into a fierce argument.

At last one lawyer lost his temper and shouted, "Sir you are the biggest fool that I have set eyes on."

"Order, order," said the Irish judge. "You seem to forget that I am in the room."

Beans

Went down the pub last night - as usual, just hanging out with Andrew.

Met a French friend.

She saw some baked beans in my dinner plate.

The French giggling : "Are you English? You're eating beans!"

The Thai : "No, I'm not. I just want to have a bubble bath later."

Oops.

Sunday, June 04, 2006

Oh no, ...

It's Sunday again.

Weekend is never long enough.

I'm at the folks' again this weekend. Quiet and peaceful - most of the time. Spend most of my time watching telly, reading, playing puzzles, online games, etc.

Dad is going up North next weekend for his sister's birthday. He's asked if I could go as well.

Hmm... would be a nice change from my "life in the fast lane" in Bangkok.

But being stuck in the car for hours with Dad....

Hmmmmm............

Rain

Due to my own scientific research (Jasus, do I ever talk shite), I'm now proud to say that it's been proved that it's impossible to get a taxi in Bangkok while raining.

Either the taxi is NOT available, or the driver hates where you are going and therefore, refuses to let you in.

So, if you're hanging out in town, and then it starts pissing down. Never try to get a cab. It's a waste of time and energy. You'd better head to the nearest pub, have a pint or two, hope it will stop in the near future, and try again 30 minutes AFTER it's stopped raining.

Unless you're near a skytrain or underground station, that is.

Well, okay, it's not THAT bad. But not so much better than that either.
