We're moving to the new apartment tomorrow!
This new place is a lot closer to my office (walking distance). But smaller, more expensive, with a parking space, bigger bog, a fridge included, ... and the most important thing is... there is no bloody bar next door that is hopping until 2 bloody am almost every night.
I'm looking forward to it.
Although, this place is close to express way. Might be noisy in the morning.
Oh well, maybe that can get me up a bit earlier in the morning.
Can't be a bad thing, really.

Very peaceful...
... so far.
The bloodless coup has been in charge less than a week. They say they will hand everything over to a new civilian Prime Minister within two weeks, and they will step down. They are still insisting that.
I'm still at my parents' house. There are a lot less soldiers in this neighbourhood.
No humvees. :(
Anyway, it will be very interesting the next few weeks. It's been reported in local newspaper that Toxin wasn't very happy that the coup leaders wouldn't release his men from custody, and allegedly said it would be "payback" time soon.
Funny how 1.9 billion USD couldn't make people happy. :)

I'm still alive
We have made it to the news again.
Tuesday night, I worked a bit late and thought I would go down the pub for a few drinks. I hopped on the Skytrain. When I got out, my sister rang me. I thought she wanted me to buy some food (at 10:30PM, it's possible for Thais). She told me she saw it on TV that Toxin had declared state of emergency, but she missed the entire announcement so didn't know what really was going on as all Thai TV channels were already taken off air. And she told me to come back to the apartment right away.
I was walking to the pub, so I thought I would pop in there for a cold one and tried to catch some news. Once in front of the pub, there were at least five people speaking on the phone there looking all serious. Sego the French was one of them.
She filled me in a bit. Just the bits that was broadcasted on CNN at the moment. So we went in and I went to watch CNN. It didn't look good, so I rang my Dad. He was watching the news, but everything was still confusing and he didn't know who was behind this. And he said shit would hit the fan, and told me to come home with my sister immediately. My sister didn't think it was a good idea, since we didn't know what was going on out there and it was late.
I rang to wake my Mum because I knew it passed her bedtime already.
Things didn't look really good. So, I just had one B52 that Sego got while I was on the phone with Dad. I still remember what Gen Suchinda did years ago. So, I decided to go back to the apartment. I stopped by at my office to get the phone charger and the new girl's CV. I might need her phone number.
In the cab, I texted Mark and a couple of friends about this so they could catch up on the news. Mark rang me back right away and asked me what was happening. I told him to watch CNN and BBC World, because at that stage, I didn't know much either.
Back in the apartment, I tried to catch up with news with my sister. We could watch CNN and BBC World there. We tended to stick with BBC World, because CNN were focusing on the UN General Assembly.
A while later, Mark texted me to see if I was still up. And he rang asking me what was happening. He couldn't get any international news there. I thought it was weird, but didn't think anything much because I still could watch BBC World. After watching CNN, BBC World, and Channel NewsAsia, I gathered that - the Military had planned to take Toxin down, Toxin had been aware of this so he had made the first move and dismissed Gen Sonthi and declared state of emergency. The Military and Police force who were loyal to Gen Sonthi, along with the Gen himself, then fought back and took control of Bangkok. Tanks, soldiers, humvees were around the Government House and major Government buildings.
The bits of the Military who were loyal to Toxin had stayed outside of Bangkok. It was reported that they were actually ready to march into Bangkok on Tuesday night, but didn't.
So, anyway, I filled Mark in as much as possible. And when there was a new announcement in Thai, he would ask me to translate it to him.
After he hung up, my sister woke up to watch the news on BBC World again. Then, I mentioned it to her that Mark couldn't see any news there. So, we checked our CNN. Oh, it was off the air too! Then, we realised, CNN in our apartment was from UBC (Bangkok cable TV), but BBC World wasn't!
Thank God for illegal satellite dish.
So, we had BBC World and Channel NewsAsia as our sources - who knew bugger all also.
I fell asleep and woke up a few hours later. Apparently, Toxin was no longer the PM. The Military coup declared Wednesday as a national holiday. Things were still confusing. So, I decided to shut the office today.
My sister and I stayed in the apartment to watch the news and made sure it's safe outside. Well, okay okay, I took another nap!
And we decided to come home.
Dad was worried sick about us last night. So, I wanted to come home and be with my family.
On the way home, we drove from Langsuan (very very in town) - no soldiers, to New Petchburi Road - still no soldiers, to Ratchadapisek Road - still no soldiers, to Prachachuen Road - soldiers with guns. We stopped at Muang Thong Thani so I could buy some food. Dad was sleeping so I thought I could feed him for once.
After Muang Thong Thani, we used a small road along a RID canal to avoid main roads. And more soldiers with guns.
When we were just 2 minutes away from the house, there was a humvee strolling along that road also. With more soldiers being stationed in the area. People were friendly with the soldiers though.
A real fuckin' humvee.
I will take a picture with it if I see them in the morning.
Anyway.....
It may appear shit to the West. But you know what, as a Thai, I'm glad Toxin is ousted. Everything works in its own way in Thailand. I'm not saying it's right. But it is just how it is.
The PAD rally had been scheduled for today. Can you imagine a shit load of Pro-Toxin and Anti-Toxin in the same place and in the same time?
Not too many of them fought before at the Siam Paragon, for crying out loud. If the Military hadn't done anything, there would have been blood in Bangkok today.
If the coup makers remain bloodless the entire process, kudos to them.
Now that Toxin and his family are waltzing around in London with their fortune... bloody poor sods.
Oh... right. Rumour has it that his only son is not with the family in England. I heard more than that. But I'm not going to say it just yet.

Cricky's mate
I hurt my right shoulder in the gym yesterday.
Well, I had slept on my neck in funny position the night before. And I managed to overdo it and ended up hurting my right shoulder. My good mate Ian suggested I took some certain meds. So I bought some.
Down the pub, I met Andrew and his date there. My right shoulder was getting more and more painful. It was basically killing me. So, I took two pills of that.
The next morning, my right shoulder almost didn't feel any pain.
Hip Hip Hurrah!!!

:(
I was (still am) very tired from last night. And I've been ill.
But I went out tonight again to see my mate the Jock, his missus and other people.
Told the Jock I couldn't drink a lot because of the hangover, sickness and I was driving.
So, we will meet up again for a proper session before they move to Australia next month.
I'm really knackered now...

Jasus..
I've been out nearly every night the past week. Odd that.
Maybe because of the gym. Because Andrew is a member of this gym as well. So, we tend to catch up after the gym.
My instructor just took my measurement and other details the other day.
The stupid machine that did the calculation based on my weight, height, age and sex said I should lose 6.3 kgs.
Yeah right.
I used to be that thin before and I looked ill. Totally unhealthy. I'm determined to just go back to when I looked relatively okay. Not too skinny. And look healthy.
BMI is acceptable, although a bit on the high side of the range.
Pulse isn't good. It's too fast.
Not enough water in the system.
I'm slow.
And the list goes on.
So, just to cheer me up, I went out to drink with Andrew. I think we have been hanging out together a lot. And naturally, people assume we are a couple. That would really suck if we were interested in someone in the house. But it's actually useful sometimes.
Like last night.
I went down the pub after work. Sego the French was in the house, along with other pissheads. Andrew came over with his friend. I didn't think I would drink a lot. But then there was Sego...
And then there was a shitfaced well-known someone...
He happened to like me last night.
Odd that.
There was some physical contact. So, when I had my chance, I freed myself from him. Played it cool. And let him assume Andrew was my boyfriend.
Mission Accomplished. I went home alone. No one was humiliated.
Now, where is that someone I want to sleep with?
Oops.

WTF
A Thai girl I know through work rang yesterday. Apparently, a guy from Iceland wanted to meet up with my boss to discuss business. So, she put the guy on the phone with me.
Me: "Hello?"
Client: "Hello"
Me (thinking familiar accent he had): "So, would you be able to come to our office tomorrow at 2:30pm?"
Client: "2:30? That's beautiful"
Me (thinking someone I knew used to say THAT!): "OK, we'll see you at 2:30pm tomorrow then"
Client: "Do you know my name yet?"
Me (thinking "Good question"): "Errm, no, may I have your name please?"
Client: "My name is Paddy"
Me: ".............................................................................."
The Thai girl: "Hello? Khun Kay, his name is Khun Paddy"
Me (trying very hard NOT to laugh): ".......................... errr........... okay"

Yawn
Last Sunday, after the pool games, Andrew and I went separate ways since he was getting tired and wanted to go home and I wanted to go shopping. So we did.
10:10pm, I received a text "Where u?". I just knew it's him... again. So we met up for a couple of beers... again. We went to Absolute 7 on Sukhumvit soi 7/1. Funny that. The band playing there was the same band we saw in the pub earlier in the afternoon. Well, I know the female lead singer. But I didn't get to talk to her that night because it was really loud inside and so we decided to sit outside. Fresh air. Funny shit you can see drunken people do. Nice, baby.
When I got back to my apartment around 1:30am, the damn bar next door was still hopping. ILLEGAL HOURS!!! So I couldn't sleep for a while. And I woke up at 6:30am and couldn't really go back to sleep. And I decided to come to work.
No matter how hard I tried to take my time getting dressed and everything, I turned up at work around 8:45am - wearing a yellow shirt (We Love The King!). Everybody was in shock. Even my assistant showed up later than me. She had the "I Don't Believe This Shit" expression on her face while she froze at the door with her mouth open.
Oh ha ha bloody ha.
It's not as if I never came to work early before.
Well, although the last time was a long time ago.
.... mkay.

Good morning, September
Not too long until my little sister's birthday now.
And then, the other sister's.
And then mine!
I have been hanging out with Andrew a bit. Lee is now back in Bangkok. But he still works in one place only in Bangkok. He will decide where else he will work in a few weeks.
I've finally joined the gym. Yesterday was my first time. Once I put on my gym outfit, I didn't want to get out of the changing room. I looked like a bloody beach whale. God help me, my arse is the size of the US of A. Very embarrassing.
Anyway, my instructor encouraged me to burn 200kcal on the treadmill, after showing me around how the machines work. I thought I was going to die after getting off the thing.
But it's a nice start though. I'm going to work out regularly. The gym is just next door from my office. And I have Andrew, in case I need someone to carry me home.
Good thing is that my body is not in pain today. So, I had lunch with Andrew (Sunday roast seemed a bit too much though) and played a few pool games.
I'm still shite at it, but I did make a few impressive shots (fluke).
I'm delighted to present.. the new pool shark in Bangkok. Please welcome... KAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!
