Happy Halloween

.. and Happy Belated Birthday to me and Rose.

I took two days off of work last week. That was a nice break. PMS is getting worse with age, I guess.

Back in town, had a birthday cake with my boss and colleagues. And went to see a few friends in the evening.

Rose and I share the same birthday, although 6 years apart.

It was a fun night. Stephan and his lovely wife, Ta, were very nice. Thank you for everything. And also for bringing Axel along! That was a nice surprise. :)

Cameron also turned up. He just got back from China a few days ago. And he rang me on Sunday evening. Perfect timing. It was nice to see him again.

The tight git, Lee Shamrock, bought Rose and my good chubby self four shots of B52. He ordered, and continued with his gig. By the time he was done with that song, the shots were already gone. He was shocked.

Oh please, were we supposed to just sit and look at them?!?

I actually lost count how many pints I drank. Too many, I suppose.

We didn't go to a go-go bar after Lee's gig. Due to many things. Lee was knackered. Everyone was pissed. It was getting late. So, maybe I'll try again tonight.

I'm still hungover.

How Is Your Inner Child?

Your Inner Child Is Happy

You see life as simple, and simple is a very good thing.
You're cheerful and upbeat, taking everything as it comes.
And you decide not to worry, even when things look bad.
You figure there's just so many great things to look forward to.

Of course, I'm a good girl

I went to a (Buddhist) temple with my family today. Got to meet lots of my family members (from my Dad's side) there. It's our annual ceremony to pass on good deeds to my grandparents who passed away years ago.

We went to The Marble Temple -
Wat Benchamabopit Dusitwanaram.

This time, it was a bit different from previous years. Usually, we got the same old corner with fresh air. Today, we got an air-conditioned room in the back.

While we were enjoying eating (Ofcourse, we were. We're Thai!), a white man walked into our room asking for water. At first, he asked from my cousins but they didn't speak English. I did speak English, but I didn't expect anyone to walk in and ask for water, really.

So, when I told him I would get him some, he followed me saying he saw where the water was. I had to tell him it was a private ceremony. And he was shocked. I'm sure he's really embarrassed. So he walked back to the door and waited for me there.

I came back with two bottles of water. And he started apologising, saying he's sorry he didn't know. Oh, big deal, young fella. He thanked me for the water and left.

One of my cousins has just had a baby. Hmm.. now I'm not very sure if I want babies.

Mark is now back in the North. Bloody old man needs to make it up to me. So, maybe we'll go to Chiang Mai for the weekend when he can sort out his schedule. But not anytime soon, I guess. Looks like he'll be back in Bangkok round end of this month.

Just in time for my birthday then.

Riverside

It's been raining quite a lot for October here in Bangkok. Too odd.

Anyway, Mark was in Bangkok last night and so we went out.

At first, he wanted to meet me at the Bangkok Marriott Riverside. But I wanted to go to that bar at the Millennium Hilton, so off we went.

I took the skytrain down to Taksin Bridge, and took Hilton Shuttle Boat. The boat was somehow shaking a little bit. Being a city person that I am, that was a bit scary to me.

Before we hit the bar on top floor, we had dinner at Flow first. Decorations were not Mark's style. He said it looked more like a shopping mall in Europe.

After dinner, we made our way to the top floor - ThreeSixty.

When I walked in there, I didn't look too far from where I was putting my feet as it was a bit dark. Once we were shown the area to sit, Mark chose the table, and I looked up.

Holy cow!!!

The view was spectacular. We sat by the window to enjoy the view. Nice Jazz music also. Very nice and romantic. All the staff were polite and treated us very well. No attitude for a change.

I don't know if they would give us "the look" if we checked in together though.

Only in Thailand..

.. do the landlord send three men up to change the lock on the door.

The lock on the door of our new room in the apartment has always been hard to open. So, the landlord said they would send people up to our room to change it.

The damn door

So three men turned up at our door the next day. After over an hour of struggling, the new lock was installed. Ok, now let's try it.

One of the guys went outside, closed the door and tried to open it.

Nope. It wouldn't open.

Okay, it's fooked then. Open it from inside please.

Err... nope. It wouldn't open also.

Ehh... huh?!? Scuse me?!?

Oh, crap. So we were stuck in the room with two men.

15 minutes later, God heard my prayer and the guy outside could open it with the key.

So, they started taking the new lock off and re-installed the old one.

Almost two hours after their arrival, they buggered off saying they would be back with new crews and tools.

We are still using the old lock.
